Subject: Please help Sudan (Conflict between the National Army and the Rapid Support Forces) will continue to claim more lives.

Dear __[Insert MPs Name]_______,

I am writing to you regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan between the Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The indiscriminate shelling and shooting of civilians since April 15th has resulted in hundreds of deaths, and I have several family members trapped inside Sudan.

Every passing day reduces their chances of survival as they are faced with the impossible choice of staying at home with no access to food and water or relocating to a “less dangerous” area where they are at risk of being caught in the crossfire or kidnapped.

The RSF is a violent militia with a track record of violence in conflict zones, as seen in their involvement in the Darfur genocide and the conflict in Yemen. The hopes for a peaceful transition to a democratic civilian-led government in Sudan have been dashed. We urgently need to secure an immediate ceasefire to allow doctors to attend to the injured and aid to be delivered to people's homes.

The situation in Sudan is fast becoming a humanitarian crisis. Khartoum's airport has been destroyed, and most of the capital's hospitals have been bombed, leaving doctors with limited medical supplies to treat the wounded. Local stores, including supermarkets, are unable to restock or supply food, and people are running out of food and water. This desperate situation could push Sudan into a bloody civil war.

I urge you to take the following actions:

1.    Petition the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, to:

a.     Publicly condemn the violence and work with international partners to call for an immediate ceasefire.

b.     Support NGOs and other bodies, such as the UN World Food Programme, to deliver aid.

c.     Set out the UK's response to addressing the escalation of violence and supporting UK nationals who are currently unable to leave Sudan.

2.  Petition the Leader of the Opposition, Keir Starmer, to work with the Prime Minister and other international leaders to achieve a ceasefire in Sudan.

As your constituent, I ask that you use your influence to help end the violence in Sudan and prevent the worsening of the humanitarian crisis. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
